About The CCM Foundation and HIVAwarness.org
The CCM Foundation was formed out of a desire to find an alternative method of reaching and educating minorities, 13 – 24 years old against the dangers of unsafe sex and sexually transmitted diseases. Through research we discovered that African Americans and Latinos account for more than 60% of new infections in this age group. Through observation we realized that many of the messages aimed at this group, either did not hold their interest long enough to be effective or missed the mark completely. CCM has devised a new and innovative strategy to capture the attention, bring awareness and assist in preventing the transmission of HIV/AIDS and STDs to this continually growing demographic. Our goal is to educate and inform through entertainment. We are working closely with a growing list of artists from a variety of musical genres, including R&B, Jazz, Gospel, but with a focus on Hip Hop, as it’s influence continues to expand and it has become one of the most influential forces with today’s youth. Hip Hop has ensconced itself so deeply into the mainstream that it can now be seen advertising everything from automobile insurance to fast food. Our DVD project, which will reach over two hundred thousand viewers in our target group within the first year alone, capitalizes on this new mainstream acceptability and when combined with an intimate knowledge of the subject matter, becomes a revolutionary tool for reaching today's youth. The buzz that has been generated has been overwhelmingly positive and great anticipation is building for future releases. From this we expanding into several new programs that include HIV screenings hosted by major record labels and/or artists and through publicity and advertising deals with radio and television networks.
We have a strong commitment to our goal of promoting education, awareness and prevention of HIV/AIDS and STDs. We also have an incredible determination to attain our goals. The various members of The CCM Foundation's board of directors have a wealth of experience in HIV Case Management, Video Production, Marketing and the entertainment industry. These experiences are beneficial to the success of this and other projects.
